22.11.2008: ISO Certification DIN EN ISO 22000:2005
Nidda, Oberschmitten: In the course of globalisation and the hard competition involved, company quality is becoming more and more important for the paper producer, the Spezialpapierfabrik Oberschmitten GmbH, and the film producer, the Kopafilm Elektrofolien GmbH. This does not only include the quality of the glassine and capacitor papers, as well as the film products, but also the quality of all processes in the company. Based on an integrated management system we intend to summarise systematically all methods from different areas in a uniform structure, in order to manage and control the company better. “By realising synergies and concentrating resources, - compared with individual isolated management systems - a more efficient management is possible,” remarks Quality Manager Andreas Geisler. Meanwhile three systems are integrated in our company. Since 2002 it is the norm ISO 9001:2000 covering the product and process quality; in the year 2005 the norm ISO 14001:2004, certifying the environmental management of the company, was added and since 6th November 2008 both companies dispose of the ISO certificate 22000:2005. This certification according to ISO 22000 includes the food safety of products on all degrees of the food chain until the final consumer. As mainly for the production of glassine numerous glassine paper grades are used for wrapping food, the requirements of our customers to the company are very high. “It is always difficult to meet the extremely high requirements with regard to hygiene in a company which originates more than 180 years ago, but finally it helps us to go on from which we profit on the world market,” describes Managing Director Ernst Lenger the situation proudly: “It is great that we obtained certificates for several areas within a very short time. Finally we achieved this owing to the assistance of all collaborators. There are not many companies which dispose of all three certificates. In this area we are a precursor.”

11.10.2007: Glassine paper ECHO is fully biodegradable!
According latest investigations of a well-known institute, Glassine paper ECHO (bleached, 40 g/m²) is completely biodegradable. The examination in accordance to DIN EN 13432 has proved a complete composting of the Glassine paper within a period of two weeks.
